Otaku Flame

As from episode three, we start to know more about the status of vampires and the different levels that exists. It’s also the first time that Yuuki encounters a Level E vampire, a human who was turned into a vampire because she had been bitten by a pure blood. She even identifies Zero as a friend but is later killed by Kaname because she hurt “someone precious to him”.

The same night, Kaname and the Chairman are discussing about pure blood vampires. To be noted, Kaname is actually a pure blood, which is the reason everyone in the Night Class respects him so much and also listens to his orders. Kaname also ask Kaien whether he is planning to let Zero stay in the Day Cl*censored**censored**censored**censored* for it could be dangerous if he did. He also reveals that a human being bitten by a vampire can only have two options. Either they die or they turn into a vampire. He also says that he admires Zero for having fought against his vampire instincts for so long. But then, we all know that there’s a limit to everyone and Zero is just about to reach his.

At the same time, Yuuki who was on patrol found Zero on the stair case. She tells him that she understand him now; his hate for vampires. She now sees them as beasts and sees how scary they are. As she comes closer and says that they both are the same and there’s nothing to worry about, Zero denies this fact, causing her to try to leave. Unfortunately, the bandage on Yuuki’s hand unfolds, revealing the cursed scent of blood.

Being a vampire, Zero is really affected by it and pulls Yuuki and bites her. You could really feel the fear and Yuuki’s surprise as his fangs dug into her neck. Blood tablets could be seen on the floor. Yuuki realising the truth pushes him back, to meet eyes of red colours and fangs of vampires. As Zero’s mind starts to understand what has really happened, his eyes turn to their original colour but then, the blood on his mouth still proves him to be guilty of this acts and his voice at that time really shows how he regrets it. Gomen is all he can say.

Episode 4 starts on the same scene, with Kaname rushing to where these two were, having smelt Yuuki’ blood. He accuses Zero of being a bloodthirsty animal, which he has indeed become. Afraid that Kaname could kill Zero, Yuuki comes between them only to faint and be carried to the infirmary. Kaien appears to comfort Yuuki and also to tell her about what had made things evolve like that. The rest of the episode continues with Yuuki going to Kaname to talk to him and also the meeting that Kaien had with a vampire hunter organisation which concludes the end of the episode.

Episode 5 and onwards deals with the fact of Zero being a vampire and all. It also marks the appearance of a new character, Yagari Touga, the new teacher but he doesn’t seemed to be what he really is.

With the danger that exists with Zero being a vampire, Kaien gives a bracelet to Yuuki so that she can paralyse him if ever the need arises. In cl*censored**censored**censored**censored* when the new teacher who actually happens to be Yagari comes, Zero suddenly leaves, making Yuuki starting to wonder whether these two know each other. They are then sent on an errand for the Chairman and hence, giving Yuuki time to talk to Zero.
However, they don’t manage to do so, for a vampire attacks Yuuki and Zero shows up to protect her. They are somewhat saved by Ichijou who is one of the Night Class students. He then tells these two to come to the Night Class dorm tonight if they want to know more about Level E vampires. Well, it so happened that this was an invitation to his birthday party >.<

It also shows the confrontation between Kaname and Zero. The vampire v/s the vampire hunter. Well, Zero actually happens to be the son of a family of vampire hunters. Zero eventually runs out of the party, revolted by vampires sucking each other’s blood and all, only to have Yuuki run after him We also learn that Level E vampires can’t take blood tablets, meaning that these have no effect on Zero. His thirst can only be satisfied by blood.

Yuuki finds her near the pool with the blood tablets around him, on the ground. Unable to control himself, Zero had almost bitten Yuuki when the latter flings them both into the water, turning Zero back to normal. As they emerge from the water, Yagari shoots at Zero, also revealing that he is actually Zero’s teacher.

The continuation of this scene is in episode 6, along with the dumb appearance of Kaien ruining the whole mood. We also learn about some of the past of Zero, before he arrived at Yuuki’s house. His guardian and teacher was Yagari who had lost his eyes, trying to save his young apprentice. He had also told Zero that vampires had to be hunted because they cannot go against their instincts. I also liked the way Yuuki held Zero to protect him. It wasn’t cute, but rather, really brave.

The next day, Zero isn’t in class. Man, he does skip class a lot xD As she goes to look for him, she finds that he isn’t in his room either. She quickly goes to find Yagari to ask him where he is but he only says that they’ve put him into isolation. Afterwards, Yagari goes to teach Ethics to the Night Cl*censored**censored**censored**censored* even though there’s so much hostility between them. He happens to be the number one vampire hunter and well, a hunter teaching its prey, that’s not something which is seen everyday. Yuuki waits for him until he came out of the class and asks him where Zero is. The chairman’s guest room.

She goes to see him and she learns about the day when his teacher saved him from the fangs of a vampire and eventually lost his eye, that was why Zero accepts anything that he says because he owes him his life. Yuuki then gets into the room and taking Zero by the hand, leads him to the bathroom. She says that they should continue from where they had left the night before and that it’s the only thing that she can do for him. She wants him to drink his blood and as he did, Yuuki couldn’t help but think about how afraid she was of vampires.

As she returns to her own room, she runs into Kaname who obviously sees through what she had been up to but still doesn’t say anything. He simply hugs her, saying that he wondered since when she had stopped telling him anything. He then says goodbye to her and continue his way when he meets Yagari. The latter asks him how a vampire could hold a human girl so tenderly and why he didn’t tear Zero apart when he could have. Kaname’s only reply was that he didn’t want to lose Yuuki.

The next day, Zero is skipping classes… again, making Yuuki find that something is wrong. She goes to his room only to find Yagari on the point of shooting Zero. As he does so, Zero pushes the gun up to avoid the bullets. It is only then that Yagari talks about the promise that Zero had made to him; that he would never let him regret saving him. Struggle until you can’t struggle anymore, or so he says. He then tells Yuuki that she has the responsibility of stopping Zero if ever he goes uncontrollable. With these words, he goes out of the room, stopping a bit only to tell Zero that a woman is still alive.



Well, till what I have seen, Vampire Knight promises to be a good anime but not meeting the expectations of the fans at all. They practically ruined the mood with all those funny stuffs happening, certainly with Aidou impersonating Tamaki. According to me, it's supposed to have a really serious atmosphere with suspense everywhere. Instead they are giving priority to the screaming of the Day Class girls rather than what is really happening.


And I do not remember that in the manga, Kaname slapped people so much, though Aidou might be the only victim. As for the graphics, I'm under the impression that it's changing from episodes to episodes. Is it just me? :| Vampire Knight 06 was good in terms of the mood and suspense, but there were times that the graphics weren't as good as the previous one. The variation of colours in Zero's eyes were as they had been in episode 02, when we had just learned about him being a vampire.
